She pressed her front paw to the surface of the pond, ripples formed in greater and greater rings.
She sat watching till the surface was calm again, and again she made another set of rings.
The young shewolf kept this up for almost an hour.
Sitting on a ledge above her was one of the edlers, he watched her as she played quietly below. At first he only had casual interest in her game, but as time wore on his attention became more and more attuned to her silly game.
Finally he softly leaped to the ground padding over to look into the pond, then looked to the little wolf.
She turned her face to meet his, she had that half crazed very determined look she got when she was in one of "those" moods.
He sat down softly by her as again she padded at the water's surface.
He watched as the rings formed growing and spreading over the pond.
Stretching, leaning over the water looking hard the old male tried to see what it was that was irritaing her.
The only thing he couls see was himself in the clear water.
He looked to her questioningly, his head cocking to one side.
She looked back to him with that glazed look, her tongue rolled out and he could see that there was no eplaining her acts, it was just her way of passing time.
He sat back on his haunches, then slid slowly to the ground closing his eyes as yet again Lilone padded the water.
The little shewolf sat back suddenly and launched herself into the pond.
His eyes opened in time to see the small wave just as it crashed over his muzzle. Leaping up, he shook the water from his coat, looking out into the pond at the little one paddling around, diving her head under the water, then back up again shaking only to start all over again.
Even he didn't like the smell of himself wet, so up to his ledge he padded indignantly.
He lay down on the warm stone, water spreading in small trails as he began to dry.
His eyes opening slowly as he felt the sun's warmth fade and the sudden aroma of wet pup filled his nose.
Lilone shook violently from head to toe.
He cringed as water splashed over him. Looking up into her eyes, he panted a grin.
She sat in front of him snapping at bugs flying around her head.
Sometimes she seemed to live in another world.
Just that quick she was off again, leaping off the ledge and chasing frogs around the pond. She would run at full speed in one direction only to slide to a stop and run in the other and back again.
The elder watched her and her antics. It was these days that he would think she would be a pup forever.
Her paw padded the water's surface again.
He leaped down again sitting behind her looking over her shoulder.
As the water cleared he saw her face reflected in the water.
She turned her head to the side then slapped the water again and panted a smile
The old wolf grinned behind her turned and padded off, only she could make a game out of her own reflections.
